A Lifetime of Service
Marietta’s work in the Taos community spans over 40 years – beginning with her high school job at the Trailways bus station (then owned by her cousin Jacque Chase). Her extensive career includes positions at CB Trujillo State Farm (now Wanda Lucero State Farm) and Kachina Lodge during the ownership of Betty Ditto and John Farrell.
For 24 years, Marietta dedicated herself to the Town of Taos Government, serving as grants administrator, accounting manager, and ultimately as Finance Director for 19 years. Under her financial leadership, the Town of Taos received the prestigious Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Award twice, along with multiple Budget Awards from the State of New Mexico.
Before her government service, Marietta gained valuable experience during 13 years at a local engineering firm and as the owner-operator of small local oil change business for five years.
Taos deserves leadership that tackles our most pressing challenges head-on. For decades, our town has shouldered regional responsibilities without equitable support. As your mayor, I’ll fight to ensure our fire services receive fair funding that matches our 70% county coverage, address our aging infrastructure including our regional wastewater treatment plant, and invest in recreation facilities that serve all our youth. With my experience and commitment to collaborative governance, I’ll work to heal divisions while making the tough decisions that move Taos forward. Our community faces real constraints – limited resources, staffing challenges, and political hurdles – but with transparent leadership and strategic priorities, we can build a more sustainable and vibrant Taos for all. I’m running because our town deserves better than political gridlock; we deserve solutions.”

Building a Safer, Stronger Taos Together
Prioritizing Public Safety, Revitalizing Infrastructure, and Leading with Integrity
Public Safety & Fire Services
One of the biggest issues right now is public safety, specifically fire services. Taos County voters approved a fire protection and emergency medical services gross receipts tax in November 2022, which is a county wide tax.
Aging Infrastructure
Another major issue is infrastructure. Our wastewater treatment plant really should be a regional facility, but right now, the town owns it, even though it serves a broader area.
Governance & Leadership
Marietta believes in transparent, accountable governance that puts the needs of Taos residents first. As mayor, she will foster open communication, encourage community involvement, and lead with integrity to ensure all voices are heard. Marietta’s leadership will prioritize collaboration, efficiency, and responsible decision-making for a brighter future in Taos.
